CityKitten {hearts} Fabrikate

Recently I met the wonderful Kate from Fabrikate at the Sisters Market in Brunswick. I instantly fell in love with her range of fabric covered bangles - especially the ones covered in Japanese fabrics.

She has recently got a new range of Japanese fabrics in stock so we can look forward to some lovely new creations from her soon. At the moment she doesn't have an online store but if you are near Melbourne this Saturday, you can see Kate at the Maldon Folk Festival Market. (or you can contact me and I will put you in touch with her).

Sunday In The Garden

Today has been the first really nice day to be outside (when I was home) since I have moved here so I did a spot of gardening. I harvested some beetroot (beets) from the veggie patch:

I picked some wild flowers from the vacant lot across the road, which I put in a vase in the kitchen: I also found a neat little lead horse - such a fabulous found object now I just have to decide what to do with him.

Folds of My Heart

When I was little I loved Origami. Making things out of paper - one sheet of paper! - that were lovely to play with (animals) or functional (little boxes) was a complete delight.

I recently came into possession of some shadow box frames and I wanted to do something with some beautiful Japanese papers that I had been hoarding away so I decided that it was time to start folding my heart out (haha) once again.
Initially I was going to use white backgrounds but felt the black gave a more striking effect.

This next one is my favourite because of the red paper I used:

I also had some light pink papers and the black was too dark for the background so I used a light green to compliment the pink:

Which one is your favourite?

Have a beautiful day,

To Market To Market

Hello everyone, I apologise for my absence but I have been so busy getting ready for the Modish Creators Market which was held at Malvern Townhall on Saturday. Sadly the the AFL (Aussie Rules Football) Grand Final replay was on so numbers were down but it was great to see other fabulous talented artists there on the day and to enjoy some yummy treats too!

My Stall

And here are the treats!
Beautiful cupcakes that are works of art from Sophisticakes of Melbourne.
I will be back tomorrow with some new creations that were made just for the market.
Have a beautiful day,
Manda x
